Sally has been an advocate for women’s health throughout her career. Starting with her first Menopausal Medicine Certificate in Australia in 1993, she returned to NHS General Practice in the UK and became a Family Planning Trainer, before completing the British advanced module of menopausal medicine and the Certificate of Gynae Ultrasound. Following that, she became an Advanced Menopause Specialist in 2016 and now trains other doctors in Menopausal Medicine.
She has been working as a GP in the NHS for nearly 30 years, helping women with all aspects of their healthcare at every point in their lives. She believes that many women struggle to get sensible scientific advice in the NHS at a challenging time in their lives and hopes to help many women to get back to their former selves.
Sam has worked in the NHS since 2005 and practiced as a GP partner and trainer with a specialist interest in women’s health. She is a British Menopause Society recognised Advanced Menopause Specialist. Alongside this, together with Sally Louden Sam is proud to have co-founded www.everythingmenopause.co.uk. Her passion lies in menopause care and education, in helping women to successfully navigate the changes in their health and wellbeing during this time.
Sam is an accredited mentor and coach and use these skills to support newly qualified doctors. She also educates and train medical students and junior doctors in her NHS role.
I am thrilled to have Dr Sam & Dr Sally as part of the Foglights Menopause Hub, their knowledge and expertise are second to none. They will help and empower many women as they navigate perimenopause and menopause.
Ruth qualified as a nutritional therapist in 2009, graduating from the world-renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition. She founded www.ruthtaylornutrition.co.uk and has
since worked with a wide range of people, with a variety of issues. She works part time in a corporate role as part of a large Online Doctor provider. In her private clinic she specialises in supporting people with digestive health issues and weight management. She also acts as a mentor to other Nutritional Therapists.
Prior to training as a Nutritional Therapist Ruth worked as a nursing sister in the NHS for a number of years. She says “I have to admit that back then I really knew very little about the amazing benefits of eating ‘the right food’, or that changing how and what you eat could have such a profound impact on your health, I’m so fortunate that I retrained as a Nutritional Therapist and can now make a difference to other people’s lives.” Ruth loves helping women navigating menopause understand how the right food can make a difference to their symptoms and long term health too. Her approach is practical and achievable!
Hi I’m Claire a qualified Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer. I wasn’t interested in any form of exercise until my late 40’s, when I realised that every female on my maternal side had had osteoporosis. Fobbed off by my doctor who said I was too young for a bone density scan, I decided to join a gym but I wanted to know more, so I went back to college and got my Gym Instructors qualification, got a job in a local gym and went on to study Personal Training.
In 2020 I started my Strength and Conditioning qualification, in 2021 I was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer and had to put all my energy into fighting this disease. I now take the drug Tamoxifen, designed to suck all the oestrogen out of my body, putting me in a medically induced menopause and unable to take anything to relieve the side effects. I am totally convinced that exercise, my knowledge of strength training and my good level of fitness got me through my treatment and menopause symptoms.
I now train clients from my home gym, prioritising strength, mobility and core exercises.
Helen is a hypnotherapist & Mindlfulness Teacher with a Diploma in Counselling and psychology.
Jo is an executive coach and trainer with a special interest in menopause.
Courage is a central theme in her work. Whether working with individuals or businesses, a central theme is how doing the courageous thing invariably makes us feel vulnerable. And that intersection of courage and vulnerability is exactly where the growth and transformations happen.
Jo is a certified Executive Coach with a Practitioner Diploma from the Academy of Executive Coaching. Recognising the unique challenges women face during menopause, she specialised in this area, completing the Executive Menopause Coach Accreditation with the Kathryn Colas Academy in 2020.
Jo first became aware of the challenges women face during menopause through the many coaching clients who expressed feelings of reduced capability and confidence. Recognising the impact of these symptoms on their personal and professional lives inspired her to create What the Fog? FB Community and Foglights Menopause Hub a space where women can find support, community and guidance.
Helen Morris experienced a surgical menopause at 33 which led her to investigate menopause for her health. Unable to use HRT because of the side effects, Helen has explored many different alternative approaches over the years to help manage menopausal symptoms. All this, whilst raising 4 kids, holding down a full-time job, and educating her husband on all things menopause!
Now in her 60’s, Helen has qualified as an Executive Menopause Coach to help others and spread knowledge to avoid the lack of information and understanding from the medical professions that she experienced. She is a fully qualified Hypnotherapist and Mindfulness Teacher, both of which have supported her own health management over the years.
